How can I know whether you are the right therapist for me? [ Top ]
Finding the right therapist is an important consideration. The relationship we develop together is a major factor in the healing and growth that takes place in therapy. When you call to set up an appointment, we can have a 15-20 minute conversation in which you can tell me about yourself and the problems you are facing. You can also ask me some questions that you may have about how I work. this may help you have a sense of how it is for us to interact. I think a good way to begin is to schedule the first appointment with two sessions together, so that we have enough time to go over your immediate distress and your family background, which may lay behind some of the problems.

How can I contact you? [ Top ]
DPlease click on Contact and Appointments and send me an email with a question or with information about your preferences for appointment times.

Are you in-network for any health insurance companies? [ Top ]
I am not in-network for any health insurance company. My services, however, are often partially covered by your out-of-network benefits. I will give you a monthly or weekly bill, which you can submit to your insurance company to issue payment to you.

You are welcome to call me or email me about the terms of your health insurance. Or, you can check with your health insurance plan by calling Member Services.

What is your fee? What methods of payment do you accept? [ Top ]
My usual and customary fee In CT is $125 for a 45-50 minute therapy session. In NYC, where my expenses are higher, my fee is $175.
Fees are payable at the time therapy services are rendered.

How long will therapy take? [ Top ]
The length of therapy depends on many factors, such as what issues you want to work on and how complex the issues are. Also, a big factor is that change is often slow to occur, because learning and mastering new patterns of behavior take a lot of practice/repetition, like learning to hit a tennis ball or a new dance step; it must be done over and over. Change can begin, however, right way and give you relief from feeling hopeless and stuck.

No matter how long you work with me, my goal is for you to walk away from every session with some emotional relief and a clearer perspective on your situation. I aim always for you to take away ideas about strategies to try or skills to practice in between sessions

What is your cancellation policy? [ Top ]
Your appointment time is reserved solely for you. As is customary with most professionals, if you cancel or need to change your appointment, a 48-hour notice is required. I always try, whenever possible, to find another time for you in my schedule, so that we can maintain consistency in our work together. When you do not show up for an appointment or cancel with less than a 48-hour notice, you will be expected to pay for the full session fee at your next appointment.
